Been away from home, in my spare time I've been sorting Old Android 4.4 Games for the 7 Tablets I've collected over the week. Just going through making sure they are all working and fun. I really don't understand why they keep getting thrown away, they still have 2 1/2+ hours of battery and the games are very good quality. Like the cheap tablets I can understand they are garbage when they are made, but these are Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's and 4's. I mean I grew up with Atari and the Hand Held were one game, black and white and they kept me amused. How can parent's think these are garbage. My Collection of iPads is well over 35 now and they are far from rubbish, I have iPad Air's one Pro and from Gen 1 to Gen 6, some are 256gb space. It honestly makes me sick to see how much waste there is now days. Screens are another thing, people upgrade their screens and TV's and throw perfectly working ones out... I mean WTH, some of them are 32 and 27", no 4K yet, but back when I grew up with a 4x3 14" CRT, I only dreamed...
Don't get me started on the Laptops I've found. 2019 and 2020 Yogo Books with 256gb M.2 and 8GB RAM, a few keys don't work but so what, it is touch screen and has a OSK if needed.
I'm now running a iPhone 12 256gb phone that was dumped in the bins and rained on. lucky it's waterproof. but who throws it out.. it was Find My iDevice locked, but had no passcode, so I got their email address and asked if they wanted it back or if they could sign in and remove the device. they got back to me hours later and said, not a problem and now I know I hate apple phones, but I keep using it anyway Android is what I am used to.
was a busy day for me today, I used my new found vibe coding skills to make a cache manager for my builder, it speeds me up and saves me downloading things over and over during tests. My rsync testing is too slow and doubles the needed space, I'll get AI to help me sort that tomorrow. there must be some way to move merge (I may just rename the original move the new and move the content in one at a time - it would be much faster IMO. but I don't want to type it all then debug. AI FTW.
I've built the AIO, it's 15GB but packed full of everything I always install, so I can just boot it, pick install and hand it over. I am going to test it once it's copied off the VM where I built it. I've had 8 major upgrades done today and found 2 bugs that I fixed. So a big day. Not much has changed, but I am preparing it for future changes, it'll be faster, more features and just eventually better. it is prettier on the startup now as it says what it's doing instead of guessing and random countdown.
Only the one bug left out of the 8, the rest seem solved. I am still having an issue with a fast move command, but I think AI and I got it this time, the trick was to move the non existing folder first, this reduced the overhead of the alternative merge methods
You now have Flatpaks, AppImages and WINE all available from the LiveOS, so I now can release a full 15GB pre installed (as I'd install the OS), nothing is missing, it's just setup and working, it does use more ram (2.3gb instead of the smaller 1.3gb on the other, but it would still run great on a 4gb machine, limited to 2 or 3 webpages etc, but hopefully most will have 8gb+ nowdays anyway
Never mind, the ram usage of the installed OS is within the margin of error, meaning it's not using any extra, just the Live OS is a tad more resource heavy, I never really looked how much it used, maybe it's the same.
