As you know LastOS.org was hacked , it was the host that allowed everything to take place.

LastOS.org domain name is clean , the file server that hosted everything was the fault .

I have been with Last 'EVERYTHING' since appzpoint, and to know , today .

It is not about me , myself and I , it is about respect , a community that I have been a part of for over 16 years .

I learned from David (Pixlad) He had me to update SharingIsThePoint by phpmyadmin side and it failed , that was the pin prick of interest for me .

And Ian and yes , Tilinuz , I think I spelled Til's name correct , RON , Kay , Freeze, Trouba , bphlpt , Experience , XengineerX

I can not remember a lot of the user ID names , but 1 that stands out is -code- , he was the first chat box convo I had at appzpoint , the rest is history from there as I did have a phone call from -code- a few years later so yes it can happen .

I will be turning over the reigns to the others in a few days , I have a lot of outside work to do , and I do not want to baby sit a forum everyday , yuck LMAO .

So now it is your time to make it stay up and running smooth , come enjoy what is a legacy to ME , may not be you but it could be ... , but for me it is .

I learned from a-lot of people between all the forums that once was , so the name Last means Last for a reason , it surivived didnt it ?

SERCURE is the word of the month , dont ask blue host for it !

You are not obligated to respond or like this , just read it is enough for me .

I've also been doing what I do, things that only I can. I too am unable to do more than I do, running a forum so it's all backed up, users are happy and everything it entails (Killing spam bots attempting to sign up (Maybe you should just flat out block any SpamID emails detected, we don't need o use old and crusty emails that have been hacked before, people can make nice fresh emails with new passwords that haven't been stolen before, will keep us safer and remove the daily chore of removing their attempts, I'll NEVER allow them through, so pointless it keeping count.

Here how I am at the end of my day:
I've finished... there is a LastOSLinux 2026, Last10 2026, Last11 2026, all apps I use are up to date, renamed and meta data complete, as with all the games, themes all done, tweaks sorted to be easier to find. LLStore hasn't had any issues. The forum is up and all is well.

What is next is up to the younger members of LastOS or the older ones who don't have 11 kids to deal with on top of their day to day, either is fine with me. The hosting for LastOS forum is still needing to be sorted, which means I'll need to grab one more forum backup off you after tomorrows backup Steve, you time has been well spent getting it all going and I will hang about to make sure support is given and members have new toys from time to time. But somebody has to step up, we can't leave it semi unattended as it was when the intruder got in.

Happy to contribute towards the hosting, but I personally don't answer phone calls, make appointments or any of the "life" stuff, so for LastOS to go on, it needs someone else. I am waiting and watching. Do we still have a team, or is what Steve and I done over the last few weeks been the last hurrah, and this the end of LastOS? There must be someone out there that has enjoyed what we do here and I am sure Steve isn't gone forever, he's a ghost, they are always around and watching, guiding when you need it.

Well, if I may say so, this is how I see it.

LastOS is unfortunately, if I understand correctly, very unknown. And yes, Glenn, I read that you don't want to advertise anymore and that you're out of DistroWatch, Sourceforge, etc. Nevertheless, it's very important to keep your baby alive. OK, “important” is perhaps the wrong word, because I can only speak for myself, but surely it must be possible to get someone on the Linux Mint forum excited about your project? It's all too big for one person. Right? I don't know... I can only imagine it would be very difficult.

OK, my thoughts on this would definitely be to advertise and ask to what extent someone could imagine helping out. But it won't work without trust. That means it's TOO IMPORTANT for you to allow any hasty decisions.

What I mean is:

Take me as an example:
You can't trust me just because I write so nicely. It's difficult. The fact is, I love your baby called LastOS and I would find it a real shame if the whole thing got too much for you at some point.

I'm interpreting this from your conversation here. Maybe I'm wrong. If so, I hope the translator just translated nonsense.

the issue is we have this forum and no one with the time or ability to deal with the hosting of it. i don't mind paying for it, but don't do that kind of thing in my life at all, as i said i don't use phones, do appointments, organise things with bills, etc. it's what I am really bad at. i've always had someone willing to pickup this side of LastOS for me, i know I'm not able to do it myself and I'm requesting help from anyone with the time and ability to take it on.

I can build a modded Windows 10, windows 11, Linux and do 270+ apps and 180 games in 3 days, solve issues and support the users, but I can't do the things many people find simple. we just need someone who can help with the hosting and deal with the host if anything comes up.

LastOSLinux and the windows mods etc are focused on basic home users and not for business or advanced users who can do it all themselves. But mine contains wares and things that go against what all the legitimate releases accept. that is why i can't accept money as its often other peoples work and I wouldn't feel right profiting off their work. so even though i have been making LastOS's since 2003, I have been sharing and supporting my windows releases since 2006ish and Linux for 2 years come August, mainly because I wanted the Windows 10 (Ladt10) to have somewhere to go. I hate ewaste and volunteer my time at an online centre, refurbishing and installing old laptops and PCs, tablets, phones, consoles etc. so when I seen how bad Windows 11 was a couple of years ago, i felt My skills were needed.

I had about 500000 downloads of LastOSLinux, it got to the 64th position of DistroWatch and was popular, but then LadtOS.org got attacked and I knew i'd upset somebody with my work. So I decided it was time to give up. Had ghost/Steve not wanted to rebuild to where we are, I'd have gave up. so now we are at the stage, someone takes on helping us continue, or on Jan 26. LastOS will cease to be public anymore.

this is how it is and I am sharing it all openly, as I've given a LOT of time to LastOS and I don't want it to all be for nothing. if anyone sees value and has time to help, now's your last chance.

Here is what happened @tosa , you come here at a great time as from Dec 18/19 onward we where hacked on under the other hosting package , WE fought to stop/kill of what/who was doing it , days turn into weeks , be almost 30 days in a few days , that does not sound like a lot of time but when LastOS is down just for a few hours it seems like days .

I had a different hosting package a name sake domain lastos.net and I put this forum up as a command post forum so we had a secure place to communicate , well now , after the host of original forum was truly unwilling to help other than to sell more products , it came that last dreaded decision on what to do next ?

So instead of fighting to fix the blue host issue , I think we all said lets nuke the whole darn host of everything , because at this point it was not stopping the hack/intrusion , so fixing it was not happening , so fight fire with fire is what we so called did in a sence of nuking everything under blue host .

So lastos.net became the main forum for now , or if so for ever , which every way it goes , there is the original domain name lastos.org
and lastos.net to run side by side for now .

WE worked so hard to have a place to call home and to let someone use it for their hacking playground , well what would you do ? That is a hard question to answer , so here we are .

I , myself have been at it everyday since Dec 18/19th and so has the others on their side to fix old host and to help with staying alive here was the only easy way out , did we run , sure we did to a safer secure place than blue host , makes since now , I bet it does :) .

LastOS has been around for more that 16 years , so that should give you a better idea of what happened , to how WE got to here , the others will be here , but myself , I like being outside and moving around , I have remodeling work to do , autos in the yard that needs major repairs , so my time daily as of late will be slim .

As now the forum should be in a state to just run itself , meaning all issues have been fixed , setup to run on its own .

All anyone can do is be a part of and continue what has been a long run to stay running longer , so stay around as you have @tosa and find the good in it all .

As for LastOS going down again , no it will not . Decisions will be made in the very short furure about where to move to as this hosting package is due on Jan 26th , and renewal costs more than getting a new hosting package and move the host side to another host and all will be like eating cake , who doesnt like cake yummie LOL , then we will have another full year before renewal comes up .

Welcome to LastOS @tosa ! Hopfully from this point on it is smooth sailing for here .

Unfortunately, I also have no idea how to keep a shop like that going. However, I can't imagine why there wouldn't be someone who could help you with that.

Oh yes...

and NO, we Germans absolutely do not like our government. What is touted to the outside world as a democracy feels to us like a dictatorship à la “German Democratic Republic” (GDR). Almost like back in 1933. Those who have woken up can see clearly how we are slowly sliding back into dictatorship...

Can you actually see that from afar?

It just occurred to me because I was thinking:
What do foreigners actually think about Germans?
(Why do they let themselves be treated like slaves?)
